Using Evidence-Based Practices in LAMP

“Evidence-based practice (EBP) is a model of professional decision-making in which practitioners integrate the best available evidence with client values/context and clinical expertise in order to provide services for their clients.” This training provides behavior analysts and other AAC professionals with information aligning LAMP principles with the best available evidence based practices. Concepts and principles of EBP utilized in LAMP methodology will be discussed.

Prior attendance of a 1-Day LAMP class is highly suggested but not mandatory.

Free BACB type Ceus available for BCBAs. BCBA credits equivalent to ASHA CEU's.


Participants will be able to:

  1. List the five key elements of  LAMP
  2. Describe EBP related to LAMP methodology
  3. Identify methods of motivating clients to use AAC through the use of EBP and LAMP strategies

 

45 minutes - Brief overview of LAMP and the components of EBP involved
30 minutes - Aligning LAMP principles with verbal behavior programs
30 minutes - Utilizing naturalistic teaching using LAMP, principles of reinforcement and motivating operations
15 minutes - Questions and Answers

 

Julie Butterworth, MCD, CCC-SLP, BCBA

Instructor Julie Butterworth

Julie Butterworth is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst and a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist. She holds a Bachelor of Science and Master degrees in communicative disorders from Arkansas State University in Jonesboro, AR. She completed her certification process for behavior analysis through Florida Institute of Technology and received certification from the Behavior Analysis Certification Board in 2011. Julie is an BACB approved ACE (Authorized Continuing Education) provider and serves as the center’s coordinator for BACB CEUs.

In addition to LAMP, Julie currently works as a Behavior Support Specialist at Crowley’s Ridge Educational Cooperative in Harrisburg, AR and as a BCBA for in home ABA services through Arrows Behavior Therapy & Consulting. Julie has been involved in working with children with autism spectrum disorders implementing LAMP strategies for many years. Julie is fortunate to have been in many different settings such as early intervention, in home, school, private school and clinical. She has had the unique opportunity to follow several children using AAC for many years, allowing her to share the difficulties and triumphs along the way.

Submission Deadlines

Live online classes:  Participants wanting ASHA CEUs must be registered, "join" the class through his/her unique confirmation email letter and participate for the entire duration of the class. No partial credits will be submitted. Participants have 15 days to submit all ASHA paperwork to PRC-Saltillo. ASHA paperwork received after 15 days will not be accepted. Your entrance and exit of the class are timestamped and you must stay logged in on a computer or tablet for the entire class in order to receive ASHA CEUs. Call-in only attendance does not qualify for ASHA CEUs.

In-person classes:  All ASHA paperwork must be submitted to the presenter by the end of the training day.

Participants wanting ASHA CEUs for a multiple day training must attend all days. In addition, if there is a registration fee associated with the class and payment is not received, PRC-Saltillo will not submit your request for ASHA CEUs.

PRC-Saltillo has 45 days after the seminar to turn in your ASHA Participant form. Once ASHA receives your participant form, please allow 4 weeks for the course to appear on your ASHA transcript. 

ASHA Information

An annual ASHA CE Registry fee is required to register ASHA CEUs. ASHA CE Registry fees are paid by the participant directly to the ASHA National Office. The annual ASHA CE Registry fee allows registration of an unlimited number of ASHA CEUs for the calendar year. PRC presentations will focus exclusively on Accent, PRiO, NuEye, Look, NuPoint, Unity, UNIDAD, LAMP Words for Life, LAMP Words for Life - Sp/En, LAMP Words for Life - VI,  CoreScanner, Essence, WordPower, Explore AAC, Realize Language, or AAC Language Lab and will not include information regarding other similar or related augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) devices or software.

Saltillo presentations will focus exclusively on ChatFusion, NovaChat, TouchChat, VocabPC, MultiChat15, WordPower, TouchChat app, Explore AAC, or TouchChat website.
