  • Putting LAMP to Work: AAC Strategies to Promote Communication

    Length: One Day

An overview of the LAMP treatment approach: background and theory, discussion of the components of LAMP, how and why children with autism would benefit from using a voice output AAC device, discussion of device features that are beneficial for teaching language to children with autism.

Videos will be used to illustrate the treatment components.

For the host site to be eligible to receive trial devices following this basic workshop, those team members responsible for implementation would need to receive specific device training either through online e-trainings or through the local PRC consultant. This can be arranged with the Center for AAC & Autism prior to the workshop.

For maximum benefit, participants should have access to a Vantage, Vantage Lite or a laptop computer (CAA will provide software). Although strategies will be illustrated on PRC products, the concepts taught can be utilized with other products.

The team members of the child receiving the trial device need to be present throughout the training.

This workshop includes videotaping of up to three local clients chosen by the host center on the day prior to the workshop. Discussion and implementation strategies will focus on the local clients.
